The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has demonstrated the saying, "Charity begins at home" by providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other Medical items worth N11,405,000 to support the health workforce at the General Hospital, Bwari in attending to patients during the COVID-19 period. The PPE and other medical items donated included Surgical White Boot(Grade1), Ly Disposable Theatre Gown, Unigloves Latex Gloves, Face Mask(Agiary), Omron Nebulizer Compressor and Bakson Hand Sanitizers. Other items were Ocean Med England Infusion Pump, Edan Patient Monitor(IM70), 3m Alura Face Mask N95, Neogloves Surgical Gloves and Du Point Protective Gloves(PPG).
Earlier, the Board had donated two ventilators, to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada and one small ventilator to the Bwari General hospital, the host community of the Board.
The three ventilators were procured at a total cost of eleven million naira only with the big ventilator costing five million naira while the small ones costing three million naira each.
The donation of these PPE, medical items and the ventilators would give the hospitals the high ground in attending to patient during this period of COVID-19 global challenge.
It would be recalled that the Governing Board of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board under the chairmanship of Dr.Emmanuel Ndukwe had earlier held a virtual meeting on Friday, 3rd April,2020, and took far-reaching decisions on how to give further support to the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
